Samurai Measuring Sword available NOW!!

2018-09-30 by David

Something fun for your wargame tables today - a small 9 inch measuring ruler, shaped like a Japanese katana sword! The blade is 6 inches (marked per inch), and the hilt another 3 inches.

Go on, give your table some style!!

  Samurai Measuring Sword

£ Since we recently had our first 4-player game here recently, I decided to go wild and print out 4 swords - one for each of our forces. Three of those would feature the clan symbols for their respective forces, and the fourth would be used by the ninja player and was therefore left plain.

£ As well as the half circle inch markings on the blade, the back edge also includes small notches to mark out each inch.

£ Here's the Mori Clan sword... er.... ruler! They were a rich clan, so I painted the hilt and handguard in gold, with the binding fabric in red. The hilt, by the way, looks great with a simple basecoat, wash and then drybrush!

£ Our one and only painted samurai cavalry model so far, in blue and brown. Mounted units in games like Test of Honour can often move further, so the full 9 inches of the ruler is very handy!

£ The hated rivals of the Mori Clan, these Hosokawa Clan samurai (white and black) were in fact the ruling clan of our local castle here in Japan. The castle model, by the way, IS coming at some point..... Cool

£ Probably my favourite photo of the day, this is the ninja version of the sword. I printed the plain version of the hilt for this sword, and darkened all the metals to suit the sneaky purpose of the ninja force. Can you spot them all? I think somebody's in trouble....
