We've had a great reaction from everybody to the Necrontyr Landing Pad and Pyramid designs over the last week or so - THANK YOU, everybody! Today, the third of our Necron-themed terrain pieces goes on sale - this time it's a double set of Power Generators!
As always, here are some of this morning's painted model pics!
£ There are two different Power Generators in the set - one small and one big. Here you can see our mascot Ned the Necron posing in front of both of them, to give you some idea of the scale. As always with our Necrontyr terrain, it's go BIG or go home!!
£ There are various tops for both generators included in the zip file. The photo above shows our very brightly painted solid top!
After a black undercoat and then a quick drybrush in dark silver, I used a cheap airbrush to try and spray the power nodes with pure white. I was just about happy with how that turned out, so I painted over all the lit area with a thin coat of very bright green. Then I finished with a quick blending of yellow in the very centre. Done!
£ Some of you may recognise this design - the Necron Power Generator design from the popular Dawn of War video game was actually the inspiration for the whole range, and I think this is pretty close to that great image.... but with a few of our own improvements!
£ Here's the first of those improvements.... instead of the solid tops in the previous photos, you can choose to print the tops with holes in them, and drop in a 25mm (1 inch) marble. Then you can light the generators from below with LEDs, as seen in this pic!!
£ For this version, we switched out the painted top for the marble top instead, and added a green glass marble and a green LED inside.
£ In this photo you can get some idea of the extra cut-out vents. There's a little bit of glow coming from underneath the top panel, but there are also 8 vertical vents along the sides, 2 of which you can see lit with LEDs in this picture!
£ And here's the same green marble used with the smaller generator. The combination of painted 'glow' on the inside walls and the real glow from the LED-lit marble look great!
I can't wait to place 4 of these on the battlefield in a block!
£ The small generator also includes a third top option - a domed version with vents cut into it. This allows a small amount of LED glow to wash onto the inside walls of the generator, to give that paint job some extra .... power?!
£ Finally for today, here's a group pic with the larger generator on top of the landing pad - that would make quite a good game objective, no?!
